Unlike shipping containers, the integrity of a MODx unit relies on a fully galvanized structural steel frame that allows for open floor plans without any interior structural walls.

City of Cambridge, MA Fire Department

The Cambridge Fire Department now trains year-round in a MODx Modular training tower built directly beside Engine #3, installed with zero disruption to station operations. WHP, in collaboration with Triumph Modular, overcame the tight urban site by factory-building the structure off-site and delivering it in precise nighttime phases craned onto a custom-reinforced concrete slab. In a matter of weeks, a new tower was born and set a new standard for urban fire training facilities.

The unit’s structural integrity is anchored by a FULLY GALVANIZED STRUCTURAL STEEL FRAME. This advanced design allows for open floor plans without the interior columns or beams required in stacked containers. Designed for maximum versatility, the walls are independent and can be moved, removed, or reconfigured, and doors and windows are interchangeable. Additionally, the structural composite floor system is sloped, drained and engineered to mitigate typical water damage issues such as rot and rust seen in stacked containers. This cutting-edge performance and quality, which departments have grown to expect from WHP, is delivered as an affordable, grant-eligible solution that can be easily expanded in the future.
