Shop Manager
Hourly Rate: $32.50-$37.50
Hours: Monday- Thursday 10-hour shift

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and hands-on Shop Manager to lead operations in our Steel Metal Fabrication Shop. This leadership role requires a highly motivated individual who can drive production performance, uphold strict quality standards, and build a strong, positive
team culture.
The ideal candidate is energetic, reliable, and ready to motivate and encourage team members daily. You will oversee production processes by utilizing the company’s ERP system, enforce quality control standards, lead shop meetings, manage personnel, and ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to specification.
This is a key leadership opportunity for someone passionate about steel fabrication, operational excellence, and developing high-performing teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Culture
- Lead and supervise all shop operations, including fabrication, welding, assembly, and
finishing - Motivate, mentor, and encourage team members to achieve production and quality goals
- Conduct regular shop morning meetings to communicate goals, safety updates, and
performance expectations - Build and promote a positive, accountable, and team-oriented shop culture
- Set clear performance standards and expectations for all employees
- Handle employee discipline, conflict resolution, and performance management
professionally and consistently - Onboard and train skilled fabrication personnel
Production & Operations
- Oversee daily steel fabrication production schedules to ensure deadlines are met
- Coordinate workflow between departments to maximize efficiency
- Monitor productivity and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure all work meets company and customer quality control standards
- Establish and maintain quality assurance procedures
- Maintain a safe work environment and enforce all safety regulations
Quality Control
- Set and enforce quality standards for fabrication, welding, and final product inspection
- Conduct regular quality checks and address deficiencies immediately
- Implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues
Systems & Administration
- Utilize ERP systems for job tracking, inventory control, purchasing, and production
management - Maintain accurate production records, material tracking, and reporting
- Oversee material purchasing and inventory levels to avoid delays
- Ensure strong communication between shop floor and administrative departments
- Demonstrate strong computer proficiency, including ERP software, spreadsheets, and
production reporting tools
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in steel metal fabrication, with shop management or
supervisory experience - Proven experience in steel metal fabrication shop management or supervision
- Strong background in leading and managing teams in a production environment
- Experience handling employee discipline and performance management
- Solid understanding of fabrication processes, welding standards, and quality control
practices - Experience overseeing production scheduling and workflow coordination
- Strong computer skills and hands-on experience with ERP systems
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and specifications
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Reliable, organized, and results-driven
- Positive attitude with the ability to energize and motivate a team
- Commitment to building a strong, respectful, and high-performing workplace culture
- CWI certification is a plus
