Meet Amanda Jahnke

WHP fire Training towers Amanda Simmons

It’s the people at WHP Trainingtowers™ who are truly behind our success. We sat down with Amanda Jahnke, the Accounting Manager and Director of Marketing, to find out a little more about her job and her life:

How long have you worked at WHP?
I have been with WHP Trainingtowers™ for 25 years.

What are you responsible for?
I am responsible for all marketing which includes trade shows, advertising, social media, the website, and graphic design. I am also in charge of accounting which includes managing financial staff, financial reporting, taxes, budgeting, inventory, and ensuring compliance with local and state requirements.

What do you do on a daily basis?
On a typical day, I switch between accounting and marketing multiple times a day.

What do you like most about your job?
My favorite aspect of my current job is that every day presents new challenges. This means I’ve had an opportunity to gain knowledge and grow.

What makes WHP a great place to work?
WHP is a family owned business, my family’s business. I am very fortunate to be able to work alongside my sister, Maggie (COO) and brother, Steve (VP of Production). In addition, we have developed a very intentional, people-centric culture. All of our colleagues are invested in the business and seeing it succeed.

How do you help clients?
With marketing, I make sure we engage our customers, build and maintain a good reputation and build a relationship between the customers and WHP. With accounting, I help our clients with billing questions for their project.

What makes you proud about WHP Trainingtowers™?
I have been with WHP from the beginning when it was just four employees in a small office in Overland Park. It has been great watching the company grow to what it is today with more than 30 employees. The vision that Dad had for the company, to always be at the forefront of innovation and put the needs of the fire industry first, has always driven WHP to be the best training tower provider in the business.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I live in Prairie Village with my two kids, Annabelle (14) and Jack (11) and our goldendoodle, Nala. I enjoy reading, traveling, live music, movies, and watching sports (Go Chiefs!). I run Hands to Hearts KC, a nonprofit that helps underprivileged kids in Kansas City with food, books, and clothing.
