As in any industry, there are other companies who build fire training towers. So why choose WHP Trainingtowers™ for your department or district? There are a lot of reasons we could give you from our commitment to safety, to our innovative products, to our easy turnkey process, to our amazing customer service. But the one thing that really sets us apart is the quality of the towers themselves.
What Makes WHP Fire Training Towers So Indestructible?
The thing that makes a fire training tower a WHP fire training tower is the building itself. Every tower we build is built to stand the test of time. What makes our towers so rugged?
Dual Frame Construction
We start with a dual frame. Our dual-frame towers are built on a fully galvanized structural steel frame reinforced with a secondary framing system of 12-gauge steel columns. This means our towers are capable of meeting the most stringent wind load and seismic requirements in the country. We are the only company in the world able to offer customized structures of this quality to the industry. Our buildings have been through hurricanes and tornadoes in Florida, Guam, and North Dakota and they’re still standing.
Corrugated Cladding
While we’re proud of how sturdy our structures are, we didn’t stop there. We covered that sturdy frame with a suit of armor. Our cladding consists of structural panels with 4.5” deep corrugations embedded with a series of smaller corrugations. Not only are these structural panels much thicker than those found in most commercially available metal buildings (at least 18 gauge), this “compound corrugation” greatly increases the strength of the panel. In fact, the support strength of WHP cladding can equal that of a steel girder of the same length and weight.
Hot-Dipped Galvanized Steel
Then we had to protect that suit of armor from the harsh environment it faces year after year. Besides the usual wear and tear a building endures, fire training towers also deal with fire and water on a regular basis. Rather than just being sprayed with a galvanizing material, they are dipped into a bath of galvanizing material at a high temperature. This hot-dipping ensures complete bonding and a long-lasting superior coating that resists rust and corrosion in all types of environments. Our galvanized structures adhere to American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) A123 which exceeds the 50-year mark on the “time to first maintenance” (TFM) chart. This means that not only are our fire training towers strong, but they are also durable.
All of this emphasis on durability creates a fire training tower with amazing load-bearing capacity that can withstand anything Mother Nature has to throw at it. And it means that your investment will last for decades. Our first structure was built in 1980 in Kotzebue, Alaska. It has been in service for almost 45 years and is still going strong. That’s a testament to our dedication to quality!
